Cholera sensitisation workshop held in Madina

The La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), has organised a day’s sensitisation workshop on cholera, for head-teachers and co-ordinators of the School based Health Education Programme (SHEP) in Accra.

The 120 SHEP participants would be trained on efforts to mitigate the effects of the water-borne disease.

Mr Nii Lantei Wellington, Facilitator of the workshop, said 12 basic schools, five primary and kindergartens, two senior high schools and 11 other schools that run the shift system, would be assisted with water facilities and other interventions to beef up good sanitation practices to avert cholera outbreak.

Madam Comfort Donkor, Head of SHEP said LaNMMA is making efforts to reduce cholera outbreak within the municipality by the next 100 days.

Another resources person, Mr Daniel Kabe of the Institute of Local Government School, asked teachers to inculcate the habit of hygiene in their students.

Madam Rita Tackie Manieson, Headmistress of Madina 3 High School, a participant told the GNA commended the organisers of the workshop, as well as the proposed toilets facilities to be built for schools in the municipality.

She said it would bring relief to the Madina Cluster of schools.
