Fanthonio Foundation a not-for-profit organization has joined forces with the Face of Winter (FOW), Netherlands to promote menstrual hygiene and education among young females in rural Ghana.
The partnership would ensure the continuous provision of a requisite need of adolescent female, sanitary pads, under Fanthonio Foundations’s flagship campaign ‘#1Friend1Box’.
The campaign seeks to ensure adolescent girls do not miss out on education because of their inability to acquire materials for their menstrual hygiene due to impoverished lifestyles.
Hundreds of boxes of sanitary pads have so far been donated to females in second cycle schools in the Greater Accra and Northern regions.
The Founder of the Foundation, Ms Felicia Anthonio expressed gratitude to Face of Winter (FOW) Netherlands for accepting to contribute achieve the objective of the #1Friend1Box campaign.
“We are confident that this partnership would help expand the campaign to tackle reproductive health-related absenteeism among young girls from deprived homes”, she said
Ms Anthonio added that “there is no justification for young girls to miss classes simply because 'it is that time of the month' and they cannot afford sanitary pads or products.”
The next donation exercise under the #1Friend1Box campaign will take place at the Adidome Senior High School in the Volta Region on July 20, 2019.
Over 100 adolescent females from the Central Tongu District are expected to receive menstrual products that would to last them a year.
