First Lady presents x-ray equipment to Jasikan Hospital

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama over the weekend presented an x-ray equipment to the Jasikan District Hospital.

The presentation, which was through the Lordina Foundation, would enable the Hospital to handle cases it used to refer to other health facilities.

It would also save people in the District the cost of traveling to Hohoe for such services.

Mrs Mahama, who also presented some healthcare equipment to the Hospital, said stories of people, especially women traveling several kilometres outside the District for x-ray services “touched” her, hence the effort to support for the Hospital.

She said a healthy population was important for the rapid socio-economic growth of the District and reminded health workers of their responsibilities to patients.

Mrs Mahama called on the nurses to take inspiration from Florence Nightingale and defy the relatively poor working conditions and give the best of care to patients.

Dr Fidelis Attia, the Medical Superintendent of Jasikan District Hospital, said the equipment would enhance quality healthcare service delivery in the District.

He said the Hospital needed a mortuary so it could stop keeping dead bodies in the wards until owners of such bodies were ready to convey them to mortuaries outside the District.

Nana Opraw Akuamoah VIII, Acting President, Buem Traditional Council, expressed gratitude to Mrs Mahama for the support and appealed for an ambulance for the Hospital.
