Gowrie Youth join President’s campaign on Sanitation

A Youth Group from the Gowrie Community in the Bongo District, called “Akamtaaba Youth,” has joined President’s Mahama Campaign on Sanitation.

The Group, as part of the Gowrie Community Annual Home-coming, undertook a three-hour clean-up exercise in the Gowrie Community.

Among the areas they undertook the clean-up exercise, were the Gowrie Market, the surrounding of the Gowrie Senior High School, the Health facilities and the Chief’s Palace.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the Youth President, Mr Ephraim Nyaba, indicated that to sustain the programme , they had decided to embark upon sensitization programmes within the community, on the need to keep the environment clean, and would also periodically mobilize the community members to undertake the exercise.

Mr Nyaba impressed upon Ghanaians not to wait until the first Saturday of the month initiated by the President, to clean the environment, but to develop the culture of cleaning their respective communities at all times

The Home-coming which has its theme: “Culture, A Tool For Reforming the Youth in Our Generation,” is expected to be climaxed with a discussion by the youth on issues of development, particularly the Educational Endowment Fund.

Sports Competitions, including football gala, volley ball, oware, tug of piece and traditional singing, were organized among community members.
