HFG donates medical equipment to Bongo Health Centre

Bongo (UE), Jan 21, GNA- The Health Foundation of Ghana (HFG), a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Accra, on Thursday presented medical items and equipment valued at GH¢100,000 to the Bongo District Health Centre.

The items include 30 electronic hospital beds, 28 hospital mattresses, 10 ICU mattresses, seven surgical lamps with stands, 38 theatre attires, four blood sugar monitor, 12 incubating laryngeal airway devices among others.

The Country Director of HFG, Mrs. Lynda Arthur, presented the equipment to the Upper East Regional Health Director, Dr John Koku Awoonor-Williams.

Mrs Arthur said the NGO and Reaching Africa Foundation of the United States collaborated to acquire the equipment and items.

According to the Country Director, HFG has been working in deprived communities in Ghana since 2011 and had carried out dental and optometry outrage services in Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

She said the HFG would assist the Government to improve upon health delivery un the country and that since 2006 the NGO has being partnering international organizations and donors to assist health facilities.

“In addition to such support, the Foundation focuses on building the capacity of health personnel and community health volunteers via training in public health issues; such as Malaria prevention, HIV/AIDS, Buruli Ulcer control, Malaria and Child Health”.

Dr Awornor-Williams commended the NGO for the kind gesture and assured the Country Director HFG that the items would be put to good use, stressing that “it will go a long way to help improve health delivery in Bongo”

He said the Ghana Health Service would help in attaining the Millennium Development Goals four and five aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality.
