ICGC holds free medical screening

Dr Anthony Ofosu, Deputy Director of the Ghana Health Service, has called on Ghanaians to take regular morning exercises as it is vital to prepare the body and mind for the day’s work.

He said physical exercises were good medicine for the immune system because they reduce the incidence of cardio-vascular disorders and help make the body fit.

Dr Ofosu made the call when members of the International Central Gospel Church held a free medical screening at Pokuase, near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.

He said such exercises are important as they can help the obese to reduce weight and increase alertness in individuals.

Dr Ofosu, who is the Deputy Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Ghana Health Service, appealed to Ghanaians to control their eating habits saying that eating heavy food at night can also compound health concerns.

Pastor Andrews Darko Ameyaw, Head of the Pokuase branch of the Church, said the free medical screening formed part of the Church’s social responsibilities.

He said the apart from feeding the people with the word of God, there was also the need for the church to offer them the needed healthcare.

Pastor Darko-Ameyaw expressed the hope that the church would continue to support the community to improve upon their standard of living at all times.

About 300 people drawn from Pokuase and its environs, benefited from the free medical screening.
