The Old Students’ Association of Nkawkaw Senior High Secondary School (KAWSEC) organised a Health Walk on Saturday, 3rd September 2016.

Before embarking on the Health Walk, some members of the KAWSEC Old Student’s Association in the security service led the members in physical exercises at the El-Wak stadium after which the association undertook a walk on some of the principal streets of Accra for two and half hours.

Some leading members of the KAWSEC Old Students’ Association addressed the group when the Health Walk ended at the El-Wak Stadium.

Mr Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, the acting National Chairman of the KAWSEC Old Students’ Association advised the members to adopt a healthy life style which included regular exercises.

He told members to take time off their busy schedules to undertake exercises in order to avoid the fatalities of life style diseases like hypertension and diabetes which seem to be on the increase. “We have decided to make the Health Walk an integral part of the association’s activities because we want our members to enjoy healthy lives in order to be useful to our families, our school and our dear the nation.”

Mr Owusu-Koranteng urged all Old Students of Nkawkaw Secondary School to show interest in the activities of the association.

Honourable Frederick Opare Ansah , the Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, an Old Student of Nkawkaw Secondary School who participated in the health walk asked the members not to abandon their alma mater.

“It is KAWSEC that gave us a good foundation to actively participate in national development,” he said. He promised to be active in the programmes of the KAWSEC Old Students’ Association and encouraged members of the association who are active in the year groups to ensure that the various year groups extend their interest in the old students’ association in the national structure of the association.

Mr Emmanuel Atuobi Yeboah, a Banker with Unibank and an executive member of the KAWSEC Old Students’ Association indicated that the national association would roll out many interesting social events to sustain the interest of the members in the association’s activities.

“KAWSEC has trained many people and it is our duty to connect to all sons and daughters of our dear school to be active in the old students’ association,” he said.

The KAWSEC Old Students’ Association has decided to organise Health Walks regularly on the first and third Saturday of each month.
