'Kalyppo Kares' free health screening to be launched

Aquafresh Limited, producers of Kalyppo, one of Ghana’s most natural juice brands for children, would pilot "Kalyppo Kares", a corporate social responsibility initiative to support communities with free health screening.

The children together with their families in four communities within the Accra metropolis namely: Jamestown, Madina, Kwabenya, and Tema Community 1, would be the first to benefit from the initiative starting from August 15.

Mr Chris Ampadu, Kalyppo Kares Project Manager, said general health checkups are not often adhered to by most Ghanaians and in communities that are poor and underserved.

He said Sangy Nursing Staff, their health partner have excellent community health and medical experience and together they would work hand-in-hand to serve these communities.

"In addition to the health screening, Sangy Nursing staff will also provide basic nutrition and health education information to participants, "it added.

It said the children, whose parents bring them to the health screening would also be treated to free fun and games set up on location for their amusement.

“Children’s healthcare is vital to their growth, and education,” Mr Ampadu said.

He said the parents they consulted in developing the project were very excited about the project’s possibilities.

He explained that they have reached out to priests, imams and traditional leaders in the selected communities to help spread the word about "Kalyppo Kares".

The Project manager said if the pilot phase is successful management would expand the activities to other regions.

Mrs Sara Yeboah, co-founder of Sangy Nursing Services, said “People tend to seek medical attention only when they feel sick, a practice which is not the best."

She said this usually led to unnecessary and preventable health problems, expressing the hope that by bringing health screening to children of families it could improve on the overall health of these communities.
