Government is under pressure to secure funds to complete over 309 stalled projects across the country being funded by the Ministry of Health including the forty-year abandoned maternity block at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Construction works on three hundred and nine projects have stalled for a long time due to resource constraints from the government which is appealing to donor partners to help secure funds for their completion in earnest to inure to the benefit of the citizenry .

“We are aware of about three hundred and nine uncompleted projects of the Ministry. We are entreating government to complete them and perhaps help us to improve healthcare services”, Deputy Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation,William Kwaku Sabi on behalf of the Chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Health appealed.

Speaking to stakeholders at the 2017 Health Summit performance review under the theme: “Accountability in the health sector to achieve the health related SDGs” the minister bemoaned the poor achievements chalked over the years in the health sector.

He stated that government is quick to build hospitals and health facilities in cities in bringing healthcare to the doorsteps of the people.

“Despite the availability of the health facilities if the people do not have financial assets they will still not benefit from the facilities”, he observed

He therefore pleaded to donor partners to resuscitate the collapsing National Health Insurance Scheme to enable venerable Ghanaians to access free quality healthcare anytime.
