Medical team from the USA offers free neuro-surgical operations

Accra, Aug. 16, GNA - A nine-man medical team from the Neuro-Spinal and Human Development Organization in the USA arrived in the country last week to offer free neuro-surgical operations at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The team, led by Dr Khan, Neuro Surgeon Specialist, would also offer free operations at Ahmadiyya Hospitals at Daboase in the Western Region and Asokore in Ashanti.

A statement signed by Mr. Ahmah N. Twumasi, Public Relations Officer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, said on Saturday that the team would work in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. It said the team had been in Ghana four times to offer similar humanitarian services adding that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission; Ghana would support them with some logistics.

Members of the team, who are expected to return home on Sunday, August 20, 2006 included Dr Magdy Shady, Neuro Surgoen; Dr Fizan Abdullah and Dr Meghan Arnold, General and Paediatric Surgeons and Dr Tarek Youssef, Anaesthesiologist and Pain Specialist. The rest are Terry Blunue, Neuro Surgeon Physician Assistant; Elease WitherSpoon, Neuro Surgeon Nurse Specialist; Sean Stellfox, Surgical Technologist and Palma Hampton, Education Specialist in Reading Disability. 16 Aug. 06
