NGO Presents items to Wli-Todzi CHPS Zone

Hope for Future Generations, (HFFG), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Health, has donated assorted items to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) operated CHPS Compound at Wli-Todzi.

The items included a motorbike, bundles of roofing sheets, bags of cement, tables, chairs and wellington boots.

Mrs Cecilia Lodonu-Senoo, Executive Director of the NGO told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that items were to boost the quality of child and maternal care.

The journey to Wli-Todzi, is a bumpy three-hour detour through Togo, from the border at Leklebi-Kame, the only vehicle access way there.

The alternative route to Wli-Todzi is a footpath up the mountain from Wli-Afegame, trekking for three hours.

Madam Lodonu-Senoo said the NGO, which started operations in the Volta Region recently, got to know Wli-Todzi through liaison with the Hohoe Ghana Health Service (GHS) Municipal Directorate.

“Our interest is getting support to hard-to-reach areas, and Wli-Todzi fits our policy well,” she stated, adding that the “NGO was looking forward to giving additional support to the community.”

Madam Lodonu-Senoo said some of the items were bought with contributions of the staff of the NGO.

Dr Felix Doe, Hohoe Municipal Director of Health, who accompanied the team, said the motorbike would help increase reach into the secluded habitats.

He said the roofing sheets would be used to complete a central post where clients could gather to be attended to.

Dr Doe said already the residents had began building that post using bamboos and plantain and banana leaves for roofing.

Togbe Agbenoto the Third, chief of Wli-Todzi, expressed joy at the donation, with a promise they would be put to good use with some going to refurbish a block donated recently by a citizen of the area to be used as a clinic.
