NHIA commended in Awutu Effutu Senya for implementing agreement

Unionized workers of the Awutu Effutu Senya branch of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), on Wednesday commended the Authority for the implementation of the service condition package for workers.

The agreement which was signed between the NHIA workers Union and the Authority, seeks to improve socio-economic well-being of the entire workforce of the National Health Insurance Authority.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Josiah Doam Kittoe (Jnr.), Manager of the Awutu Effutu Senya Scheme, said workers were optimistic that issues which still needed to be reviewed and properly addressed would be done by both parties at an appropriate time to further increase the faith, trust and the confidence workers of the NHIA have posed in them.

He said this initiative is a good one and has helped address the severe and minor health challenges millions of Ghanaians have uncounted since its inception.

Mr Kittoe expressed the hope that the service condition package would be implemented saying it would go a long way to inspire workers to commit themselves to the operations of the system.

He denied the allegations that the policy was not satisfactorily as it should be and challenged those doubting this fact to visit the Winneba and Kasoa offices of the scheme for facts-finding.

Mr James Yaw Owusu-Kwarteng, Public Relations Officer of AESNHIA, reiterated the call on all registered NHIA clients nationwide to contact their respective mother schemes where they did their registration to collect their identification cards.

He said once a client is registered it is incumbent on them to go to their place of registration with their receipts for their ID cards after the stipulated three months waiting period.

Mr Owusu-Kwarteng said government uses huge sums of the tax payer’s money to print out the ID cards so it should not be left to go down the drain.

He appealed to NHIA premium holders to ensure that they renew their ID cards three months before it’s expiry date or at the end of every year to avoid any embarrassment and commended the workers and leaders of the NHIA Union for working tirelessly to the attainment of the union’s objective.
