NHIS Managers challenged to meet targets

Municipal and District Managers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have been challenged to work hard to meet the target given them, before the end of this year.

The Scheme Managers are expected to meet a given national target in the areas of mobilization of premium and registration of active members and indigenes among others.

Addressing the thirteen Scheme Managers drawn from the thirteen Municipal and Districts including some staff of the scheme at a third quarterly meeting held in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region, on Friday, the Regional Director of the Scheme, Mr Sebastian Alagpulinsa , who threw the challenge, warned that those who failed to meet the targets would be sanctioned.

“The targets are so dear to my heart, as the Regional Director and the National Director. We need to work hard to address the district and regional gaps to enable us meet the targets. We owe it a duty to serve our clients better,” he said.

Whilst commending the Managers and the staff for working hard to achieve some appreciable level of the indicators, the Regional Director told them that the targets would serve as the basis for the measurements of their performance and entreated them to live up to expectation.

“In spite of the Biometric registration and challenges associated with the ICT, It is heart-warming seeing more of you, the staff of the Scheme, sacrificing and working in shifts and at midnight to ensure that we meet the needs of clients,” he stated.

The Regional Director also called on the Managers to ensure that they hold stakeholders’ engagement as required by the Scheme with the clients and communities to solicit for their views and inputs in order to make the scheme very viable.

The Scheme Managers who took turns to give presentations on the performance of the Scheme in their various districts, mentioned inadequate staff, lack of office and staff accommodation, ICT challenges, long distance and the procurement restriction which prevent them from purchasing logistics among others.

The Scheme Managers gave the assurance that they would work hard to ensure that they met the given targets.
