Mankranso (Ash), Feb 20, GNA - Over 2,000 children were immunized against poliomyelitis and other childhood killer diseases in the Ahafo-Ano South district with the help of the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG). The PPAG, under its Community Reproductive Health (CPH) programme, provided human and logistic support in the recent mass polio immunization exercise organized by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the district. Mr Rexford Owusu Banahene, the Project Co-ordinator, disclosed this at a two-day workshop for 20 participants drawn from the district assembly, District Health management Team (DHMT) as well as the traditional council at Mankranso.
The participants were taken through structure component and functions of reproductive system, changes at puberty and teenage pregnancy among others at the workshop, which was aimed to evaluate performance to improve health status of the people. Mr. Banahene said the PPAG has also trained 20 teachers in reproductive and sexual health and 20 staff at hospital referral points.
