Swedru (C/R) Oct 23, GNA - Miss Augustina Duah Programme Manager for Students Youth Travel Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization in Ghana has said HIV/AIDS orphans need society's support to enable them to build confidence into the future.
She said these children after knowing the cause of the death of their parents go through traumatic periods because of the stigma attached to the disease, adding that it is the support from the society that could make them get out of such situations and make them feel to be part of the society.
Miss Duah said this when she presented quantities of foam mattresses, detergents, rice and other food items worth 10 million cedis to Mother Care Orphanage at Swedru in the Agona District at the weekend. She called on the Authorities of the Orphanage to use the items to benefit children at the orphanage. Madam Joyce Obeng Mother of the Orphanage who received the items on behalf of the inmates expressed appreciation for the gesture and pledged to use them for the purpose the items were intended. She appealed to Philanthropists and Charitable organizations to donate to the Orphanage to assist the authorities of the Orphanage to take good care of the children.
Madam Obeng said the intake of the children have increased to 30, making the management of the Home difficult for the Authorities. She said as part of its effort to move from the rented premises, the management has acquired 10 plots of land in the area for development of a permanent structure for the Orphanage. Madam Obeng said the structure would also include the construction of a nine-classroom block for Nursery and primary and three classrooms for the Junior Secondary Schools and a recreational facility estimated at 300 million cedis. 22 0ct 06
