School pay health insurance premium for students

Ekumfi Essarkyir (C/R), Feb. 6, GNA - The Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyyaa Senior High School has registered students who are not covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme with the Mfantseman District Mutual Health Scheme and paid their premiums.

The payment would however be debited against the beneficiaries' school bills.

Mr Issah Mumuni Dimbie, Headmaster of the school, who announced this at the school's parent-teacher association meeting at Ekumfi Essarkyir, said the school took the decision to safeguard the health needs of the students. "As the second parent of the students, we have to ensure that their health needs are well catered for," Mr Dimbie said. Mr Dimbie assured parents and guardians that the school would do everything to ensure delivery of quality education and called for cooperation from them.

He announced that the Minister of Education, Science and Sports had donated a Tata bus to the school and commended the PTA for providing the school with a boys' dormitory and a block of four classrooms. Mr Mustapaha Iddrisu, Physical Education and Science tutor in the school, advised parents to encourage their wards to participate in sporting activities since they helped in building the body and the mind. A minute's silence was observed in the memory of Prof. Kwesi Andam, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and chairman of the school's board of Governors, who died in December last year.
