Sekondi-Takoradi Metro NPP MPs donate to Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital

Members of Parliament (MPs) within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Area have made a donation of some essential items to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital to help equip the hospital adequately in readiness to fight the novel COVID-19 disease in the Region should they record any serious or critical cases.

The group was led by Honourable Kwabena Okyere Darko, MP for Takoradi who doubles as the Western Regional Minister, and was ably assisted by Honourable Andrew Egyapa Mercer, MP for Sekondi, Honorable Joseph Cudjoe, MP for Effia and Honourable Joe Mensah, MP for Kwesimintim.

Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital is the Regional Referral Health Center and will be the main Health Facility that will help with the management and treatment of serious and critical COVID-19 cases in the region.

In a speech read by Honorable Mercer on behalf of Honourable Joe Ghartey, Chairman of the NPP Parliamentary Caucus from the Western Region, he stated that "they know these items presented will help in protecting the health workers should they record any case of COVID -19 in the Region.”

The items presented to Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital included 100 PPE's, 520 Hand Sanitizers, 20 Veronica Buckets and 20 boxes of water and a cash amount of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis ( *Ghc 10,000.00* )

The Medical Director of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Tambile thanked the Parliamentarians for making such a significant contribution towards the hospital's preparation to combat and prevent the spread of the COVD-19 should there be a recorded case in the region.

After the donation, Honorable Andrew Egyapa Mercer visited some ongoing project sites within the Sekondi Constituency to check on their progress.

Some of the project sites he visited are in Nkotompo and Adiembra all suburbs of Sekondi to check the progress made on the Nkotompo Ultra Modern Community Centre and the Adiembra Astroturf Sports Complex that are being constructed to help provide recreation and youth development in the Constituency.

Hon. Mercer commended the communities for their support and encouraged both sets of contractors to accelerate the rate of work to enable them to complete the projects as scheduled for it to be put into full use to benefit the various communities and the constituency at large.
