Mankessim (C/R), July 17, GNA - Nana Ogyefo, a traditional medicine practitioner, has urged Ghana Health Service (GHS) to set up traditional medicine units at the nation's health facilities.
Nana Ogyefo said that would make the government's efforts to incorporate traditional medicine into health care delivery a success. "Combination of the orthodox medicine with the traditional one would enhance effective health care delivery", he stated in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Mankessim at the weekend. Nana Ogyefo, producer of Navina Cream and Bitters, appealed to the implementers of the National Health Insurance Scheme to include traditional medicine in the cure of some ailments so that some monetary gains would accrue to practitioners to relieve them of some of their financial burden.
He advised practitioners to observed Food and Drugs Board regulations to make their products acceptable.
Nana Ogyefo urged practitioners to establish herb farms, since bush fires, indiscriminate logging and bad farming practices had destroyed many herbs.
