Statement: Tobinco’s reaction to MoH committee’s report

Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited as a leader in providing safe and efficacious medicines to Ghanaians wishes to pledge its commitment to ensuring that the recent impasse between FDA and Tobinco is resolved in the shortest possible time to enable it resume operation of providing quality products.

We wish to state our acceptance to the MOH Committee’s report released on 23rd December, 2013, and we are putting in measures to work on the recommendations of the committee.

Tobinco would like to categorically state that we are cognizant of our responsibilities and have in the past taken steps to register our products with the FDA. We have also taken steps to renew the registration of our products. It is worth noting that efforts for renewal of the registration of some of our products started as far back as 2011.

We would like to appeal to the Minister of Health on the following:

1. The locking up of our warehouses has affected our business negatively. Currently we have products with valid registration locked up. We appeal to the Minister of Health to ensure the opening of the warehouses to avoid the products running into expiry.

2. We also have containers of medicines and other medical devices at the port for which clearance of the products have been denied. Categorization of the products in the said containers show the following classes: a. Registered products with valid registration certificates

b. Registered products undergoing renewal of registration

c. Products pending registration

d. Medical devices

We wish to state our preparedness to comply with the Ministers recommendation, while we clear the other medicines to bonded warehouse as we complete compliance procedures.

We wish to appeal to our well- wishers, sympathizers, and all stakeholders to stay calm as we have faith in the Minister and the regulatory authority to bring amicable solution to the issues.
