The NPP Member of Parliament for Tema West who doubles as a Deputy Minister for Trade and Industries, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has assured management of the Tema Polyclinic that the government health facility will soon be upgraded to a municipal hospital.
According to the MP, the current state of the facility and the number of people who visit it for healthcare has imposed a lot of pressure on the facility, hence pushing for a municipal hospital.
The MP made this revelation on Tuesday, August 6, when he aided the Tema Polyclinic with some items amounting to thirty thousand Ghana cedis (30,000) to facilitate patient healthcare and movements.
Items such as, 3-Wheelchair, 5 pairs of Walking Stick, 40-Overcoat, 15-Lab coat, 150-Disposable Theater Jacket, 20-Labourers Tra,1 box of Tissue, 20-Delivery Coat, 3-Walking Wheel and 20 pieces of Nurses Theater Dress (top and down).
Speaking to the media, Hon. Ahenkorah emphasised his continue support to the Tema polyclinic and the people of Tema west constituency.
"I'm trying everything possible best in my outfit to help improve the current state of the only government health facility in my constituency, it is in our interest to see the hospital upgraded to a better standard. We need any corporate entities that is ready to assist to come to our aid because, It's very sad the hospital has not seen any major improvement" the MP stated.
The Acting Medical Superintendent for the Tema polyclinic, Dr. Julius Tsidi, who received the items on behalf of the hospital management expressed gratitude to the honourable member for the kind gesture, adding that the items have come at the right time and it will be use to achieve it intended purposes.
The acting superintendent noted that, the hospital is facing so many challenges which is affecting the execution of quality services to patients.
Dr. Tsidi appealed to government and other corporate organizations to come to the aid of the hospital.
"We are most grateful to Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah, in fact he has been very supportive to our facility and we wish to see more from him, we will be glad to see our facility upgrade to a municipal hospital. That was the words of the acting medical superintendent.
