The Trinity Temple of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Kumasi has donated office furniture to furnish the consulting rooms of the newly refurbished Psychiatry Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The office furniture valued at approximately seventy-five thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵75,000), was made possible through contributions from the church's "Healthy Mind Offering," an offering set up to support various health organisations in the country and beyond.

The head pastor of Trinity Temple of ICGC, Rev. Sylvanus Sowah Odotei, accompanied by other church leaders made the presentation on behalf of the church.

Rev. Sowah Odotei used the opportunity to thank the leadership of Pastor Dr. Mensa Otabil and his wife, Mrs. Joy Otabil, for this great initiative to support humanity and the health sector in the country.

“As people of faith, we believe in the power of compassion, service, and love for one another. It is these values that guide us in all our actions. The decision to support the refurbishment of this unit was not just a financial contribution, but a spiritual one as well," he said.

He said through the "Healthy Mind Offering," the congregation came together, united by the desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who would come to the unit in search of healing and care.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah remarked that the contribution had come at a crucial time as the unit prepares to inaugurate its newly renovated ground floor for outpatient services to provide enhanced healthcare facilities to the community.

He emphasized that the support from ICGC Trinity Temple does not only reflect their commitment to improving healthcare services but also their dedication to the well-being of the local population.

Dr. Ruth Owusu-Antwi, head of the Psychiatry Unit, stated that she had witnessed at firsthand the challenges faced by patients and the tireless efforts of staff members to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

She also reiterated that the support had come at a critical time as they work to enhance their facilities and create an environment that promotes healing and recovery.

Dr. Ruth Owusu Antwi in expressing her personal appreciation added that the support will make a tangible difference in the lives of many, offering them a more comfortable and dignified experience during their time of need.
