Upgrading of Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic begins with construction of 50-bed female ward

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ga-South Municipality has cut sod for the construction of a 50-bed female ward at the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic.

The project, to be completed in four months is expected to also house a maternity center.

The construction of the 50-bed ward has become necessary as there is an increase in the number of people who patronize the community health facility.

The introduction of critical units such as the Dental care Unit, also called for other supporting facilities to make it a one-stop health center for patients within Ngleshie Amanfro and its environs.

Moreover, following the creation of the new Assembly, there was the need to establish a Municipal hospital.

In view of this, Joseph Nyarni Stephen, MCE for the Ga-South Municipality in consultation with the Municipal Health Directorate identified a road map towards achieving the target of a municipal hospital, hence the construction of wards to accommodate patients overnight which is phase one of the project.

The MCE entreated the contractor to ensure the project is completed on time to pave way for phase two to commence.

He reiterated his commitment to reduce female maternal mortality in the municipality saying, "I believe this project will go in a long way reduce female maternal mortality".

The Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Kwashie Gbolor V commended the MCE for the project and requested for more development projects in the community.

The residence Doctor also expressed his gratitude to the assembly for attending to their call for expansion of the health facility.

He promised to support the contractor with any means possible to see to the completion of the project within the stipulated four-month period.
