The Vodafone Ghana Foundation has taken its impactful free health screening programme to Shama in the Western region; screening a total of 350 patients for free.

The screening programme - “HealthFest” - was introduced by the Foundation in 2014 as a holistic structure to provide basic healthcare interventions for Ghanaians.

The Vodafone Ghana Foundation was established to drive the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives leading to social change and improved standards of living.

At the heart of the Foundation is the belief that innovative mobile communication technologies can address some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.

The one-day event at the Shama lorry park, screened the residents for several ailments including Hypertension, Tuberculosis, Diabetes, Malaria and HIV/AIDS.

Gayheart Mensah, Director for External Affairs at Vodafone Ghana said: “It means a great deal for us when we see the smiles on the faces of these residents who, otherwise, cannot afford basic medical care. Our commitment to the communities in which our workers live and work is at the heart of our strategic intent as a company. The Foundation will continue to deploy impactful interventions to support Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.”
