Bulenga (U/W), Feb. 1, GNA - Mr. Godfred Tango, the Member of Parliament for Wa East, has appealed to the Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide the Wa East District with a district hospital. He also called on the Ministry to find ways of motivating doctors to accept postings to the district hospitals because some district hospitals i= n the region operated without a doctor was not the best. Mr Tango said this when he donated some health equipment valued at GH¢30,000 to health facilities in the district. The equipment included fetal stethoscopes, dissecting forceps, weighin= g scales, trolleys and blood pressure apparatus.
Mr. Tango said over the years governments had built clinics in the district but 93an ill equipped health facility is as dangerous as a snake in the bush". He said it was in the light of this that he donated the equipment to help improve the capacities of the facilities to deliver the right kind of health care services to the people. Mr Tango also donated solar panels to some of the health facilities last year and commended the health personnel working in the district for their sacrifice.
Mr. Thompson Dumba, the Wa East District Director of Health Services who received the equipment, thanked the MP for his support over the years and assured him that he would ensure a fair distribution of the equipment t= o all the 17 functioning health facilities in the district.
He mentioned lack of electricity, staff accommodation and bad roads as some of the challenges affecting quality health delivery in the district. He appealed to the MP to support the facilities with delivery beds. A Representative of Naa Dr. Kala Seidu, the Chief of Bulenga, expresse= d appreciation to the MP for the donation and appealed to him to liaise with the MOH to upgrade their clinic to the status of a Polyclinic for enhanced health care for the people. He appealed to the MP to assist them to construct nurses' quarters t= o provide their nurses some level of comfort for them to stay.
