Work harder for higher standards - Health Workers advised

Speakers at a Peer Review Conference at Winneba, have said public and private healthcare employees must work harder to attain and maintain higher standards of healthcare in their facilities.

The meeting afforded the participants, drawn from Government and Private Healthcare Facilities in the Central Region, the opportunity to review their performances and come up with new and more workable strategies for the way forward.

They expressed optimism that the combined efforts of both sides would create strong and healthier systems towards the attainment of quality healthcare nation-wide.

Mr. Francis Kofi Tagoe, the Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu, Dr. Kweku Karikari, the Acting Central Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Dr Stephen Anyomi, the Deputy Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, addressed the conference.

Mr. Tagoe said that although Healthcare providers in the Region had been doing well over the years to raise the health status of the people, there was still room for improvement.

He expressed the hope that the Conference would serve a useful purpose since participants would use the experiences and knowledge gained to make the necessary amendments to raise the standards expected.

He called for cooperation, mutual understanding, unity, obedience, and respect for Authority, among Health workers and their superior officers to ensure orderly and effective operation of their respective facilities all the time.

Mr Tagoe gave the assurance that the Christ Baptist Hospital, at Sankor, a suburb of Winneba, that plans were underway to rehabilitate the road linking the Hospital and the main Essuekyir – Winneba Tow Road.

For their parts, Dr. Kakari and Dr. Anyomi explained that the Peer Review exercise was not meant to declare the winner and vanquish, but more importantly, to enable healthcare service providers in the Region to perform more creditably to meet national standards.

Dr. Karikari and Dr. Anyomi expressed their appreciation to the Chiefs and people of Effutu-Sankor for attending the meetings, saying that their action had proved the high commitment and love they had cultivated for health issues.
