Zongo Girls for Education- Ghana (ZONGED-GH) a Ghanaian NGO founded by Safia Abdallah Raabo, is set to organise a personal hygiene and menstruation campaign for teenage girls.

The event which is put together in commemoration of the World Menstrual hygiene day is scheduled for May 28, 2019 at the Alwalled Islamic School, Nima.

Aside the personal hygiene and menstruation campaign for teen girls and the program also encompasses a donation exercise. Sanitary towels, according to organisers, will be distributed to the young girls.

ZONGED GH intends to role this project on a nationwide base with the inclusion of resource persons to talk to these girls on proper hygiene practices during their menstrual period.

Currently friends and well-wishers fund this project, however NGO is also calling on organisations and individuals to come on board and assist this worthy course, as means of giving back to society in our own small way.

As an organisation, ZONGED GH hopes to instil in these girls a habit of saving, to help them purchase the pads every month an also educate them on good hygiene practices during the time of their period.

At the end of this project, ZONGED expects to share 100,000 sanitary pads to girls in basic schools and deprived communities.

ZONGED GH is a non-governmental organization that has been in existence for three years now and seeks to promote girl child education in the various Zongo communities and slums in Ghana through Advocacy, mentorship, training, counselling & guidance and reproductive health programs.

Over the years, ZONGED has embarked on various projects in Accra and Kumasi on girl child empowerment and advocacy to protect the interest of the school going girl child in our little way. This comes because of the vulnerable state most young girls find themselves in and as such become subject of abuse every now and then in their communities.
