Bitter rivals, Ghana Police Service and Trustees of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) are set on a collision course in the finals of the Bajfreight and Logistics Hockey Gala which pushes-off this Saturday at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.
Last years men's finalists have been placed in opposite ends of the draw and will both have to win two games in order to rekindle their rivalry in the hockey league curtain-raiser.
Police who were defeated 1-0 by Trustees in last year's final begin their quest for the gala against Exchequers, the winner of that tie will play Ghana Revenue Authority in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, a tie with Reformers in the semi-finals awaits the winner of the clash between gala holders, Trustees and Goldensticks.
The Team Manager of Police, Harrison Afrifa insists that although his side has not made any new acquisitions they are confident of claiming the gala.
"This year, it's going to be a different story and we are going to redeem our image starting with the gala.
"We don't have any new players but we have retained all our players from last year and the likes of Richard Adjei, Benedict Sam and Samuel Marfo are ready to deliver."
In the women's contest, defending champions Police ladies begin their campaign against Ghana Revenue Authority with the winner playing last year's losing finalist Extinguishers in the semi-finals.
Reformers lock horns with Ark Ladies in the preliminary round with Amazing Grace awaiting the winner of that clash in the semi-finals.
In the senior's division, Veterans will play the winner of the tie between Citizens and Sapholda in the semi-finals while NDK face Multistix.
