In consonance with the annual activities of Worldhockey (FIH), the World?s
youth will be celebrated in Ghana on Saturday May 14, 2005 at the National
Hockey Pitch, from 07:00 hours to 16:00 hours with various activities.
Plan of Activities:
A. Expected number of participants:
a) Youth Players and Officiating Officials - 400
b) Youth Trainers - 6
c) Player Coaches - 2
d) Umpires - 8
e) Sports Teachers/Masters - 14
f) Medical Staff - 2
B. Field Operations:
? Eight (8) Workstations to be manned by Coaches, Trainers & Umpires
? Topics and Discussion will center on:
o Offences in the game
o Hockey Officials in a game
o Dangerous Play (Protecting players)
o Officials at the TABLE and their responsibilities
o Goalkeepers
o Signaling
o Fairplay
o Caring for your equipment
o Warnings and Suspensions
o Umpires and Whistling
o Offences that constitute award of a penalty corner or penalty stroke
o Communicating with an umpire on and off the field of play
o Principles of Umpiring
o What to do before and after the game
? Discussions will take about 7 minutes
? Other activities (Mini-hockey) will take about 9 minutes at each
workstation with youth participants being in charge of umpiring
