Kumasi, Jan. 6, GNA - Wa All Stars on Wednesday held Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a pulsating goalless drawn game in their 14th Week Glo Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
All Stars who were determined to carry the day, nearly took the lead in the 16th minute but Farouk Adamu wasted the chance while Samad Oppong of Kotoko also missed an opportunity in the 26th minute and injured himself in the process.
He was thus substituted in the 32nd minute for Francis Coffie to end the half.
On resumption of the second half, Kotoko's Edward Affum hit the cross bar with a header in a goalmouth action in the 49th minute as they continued to pile pressure on the visitors and brought on Isaac Owusu for injured Mohammed Mutalabi in the 50th minute.
In the 71st minute, All Stars Adamu hit the crossbar with only goalkeeper Isaac Amoako to beat in a swift counter attack while Kotoko's Francis Coffie also wasted a chance a minute later. After the near misses it was from then on an All Stars who attacked in droves with Kotoko pinned to their own half with Nathaniel Asamoah of the visiting team squandering unpardonable chances in the 86th and 87th minutes. In a related development at the Anane Boateng Stadium at Abrakese near Kumasi, Kessben F/C retained their top position on the table when they chalked a 1-0 victory over visiting Kpando Heart of Lions. The only goal of the match was scored by Edmund Owusu Peprah in the ninth minute after he connected home James Boadu's pass against the run of play.
