Obuasi, Oct. 25, GNA - Obuasi Ashgold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko settled for a 1-1 drawn game in their titanic Glo Premier League encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports stadium on Sunday.
The 'Miners' who dominated play in the first half, scored the opener in the 10th minute through Amidu Mohammed from Owusu Prempeh's cross. Kotoko accepted the challenge and came gradually came into the game in search of the equaliser but all their efforts were thwarted as the defence of Ashgold managed to hold them at bay.
The 'Porcupine Warriors' came into the game full of fight after the recess and came close on a number of occasions as they earned several corner kicks but the strikers failed to utilise the chances. Kotoko's Daniel Nii Adjei however managed to find the equaliser for his side in the 53rd minute when he headed home a free-kick taken by Gideon Baah.
In the 59th minute, disaster struck Kotoko when referee Jonathan Tetteh red carded Prince Boateng for dangerous play.
The numerical disadvantage however did not deter the Kotoko lads as they continued to bombard Ashgold's goal area in search of the winning goal but keeper Fatau Dauda in post of Ashgold was on target to save the situation. Ashgold were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute after Theophilus Anobah was fouled in Kotoko's 18 yard box but Owusu Sefah's kick was saved by keeper Isaac Amoako to deny Ashgold the maximum points. Both sides tried several tricks in search of the leader but all their efforts at goal eluded them until the final whistle.
