Bofoakwa spank RTU

Tano Bofoakwa spanked visiting Real Tamale United (RTU) 4-0 in their 15th-week GT-sponsored Premier League match at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Sunday.

Bofoakwa led 1-0 at the first half in an encounter that made ball control very difficult on the slippery pitch due to an earlier three-hour heavy downpour, which started in the morning up to 12 noon. The heavy defeat of RTU was mostly due to the poor performance of their defenders.

The lowly-placed Bofoakwa team who were determined to lift themselves up from the bottom of the league, played a good game despite the slippery pitch and were mostly on top in the exchanges right from the blast of referee Reginald Lathbridge of Kumasi's whistle for the commencement of the match.

Due to the poor nature of the field the home team could not make use of the several goal chances that came their way until in 44th minute when Reubin Senyo ran through the defence of RTU to collect a pass from the right-flank to deliver a carpet shot that RTU's keeper, Michael Abu had no antidote to.

In the early minutes after the recess, RTU's Mohammed Hamza had a good chance to equalise but goalkeeper Ransford Cudjoe of Bofoakwa made a miraculously save of the effort.

Sensing danger, Bofoakwa redoubled their efforts and increased their lead in the 51st minute from a beautiful header by Yaw Antwi. Inspired by the two goals Bofoakwa took absolute control of the game and in the 82nd minute, a hard-pressed defender of RTU handled the ball in his "18" and Kingsley Agyemang made no mistake in converting the resultant kick to increase his side's goal tally to three.

In the 84th minute, Osei Boateng sealed the doom of the visitors with the fourth goal for Bofoakwa.
