Channel energy towards league - Ankrah

The management of Accra Hearts of Oak has called on their supporters to channel their energies towards domestic competitions after the team failed to advance further in the Confederation Cup.

The Phobians were dumped out of the competition after failing to overturn a 0-4 deficit in the first league in Tunis a fortnight ago.

Hearts were held to a one-all draw by Esperance de Tunis in a reverse fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium as their quest to reach the group stages tumbled.

A statement issued by the Managing Director, Gerald Ankrah, called on the supporters to put the elimination behind them and channel their energy towards the domestic competitions.

"We believe that the season could yet be a big success for our great club with the league, F.A. Cup and Elite Cup competitions all possible."

He expressed gratitude to the supporters "On behalf of the Board and Management of Accra Hearts of Oak, I wish to acknowledge the massive support our fans and, indeed, the entire Ghana football fraternity offered the team during our match against Esperance Sportive de Tunis on Saturday.

"We highly appreciate the impressive attendance and great atmosphere the supporters created at the stadium to encourage the team. It is heartening to note that despite the heavy loss in the first leg in Tunis, our fans maintained faith in the team and loyalty to our course till the very end".

Ankrah said the unwavering support, cash donation, logistics and match co-ordination throughout the campaign by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), pushed them far.
