Unbeaten Ebusua Dwarfs will attempt to knock leaders Asante Kotoko off their perch in an anticipated thrilling encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Kotoko's eight-match unbeaten streak in the top-flight was halted on Wednesday when they lost the plot against a resilient New Edubiase side in a 1-0 defeat at the Gyemfi Park.
But Dwarfs maintained their unblemished record after holding off defending champions Berekum Chelsea in Cape-Coast.
Both Kotoko and Dwarfs have played some exhilarating football during the early part of the season and their clash is one of the most eagerly-awaited contests.
They have met once this term, in a pre-season Cup match (Kofi Annan Challenge Cup) where Dwarfs recorded a resounding 3-1 victory at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
The stakes are high this time round since the outcome of the game will also prove consequential to their title ambitions.
With champions Chelsea and arch –rivals Hearts of Oak tied on the same points, Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu knows his charges will be under pressure to maintain their status at the top.
The Porcupine Warriors could be without in-form striker Ahmed Toure who hurt his shoulder during the mid-week trip to Bekwai.
Back in 1999, Dwarfs staged a remarkable recovery to upset Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium 4-3 in one of the biggest comebacks in the Ghana top flight.
