Fair Point begin premiership quest on high note

Accra, Oct. 2, GNA - Division One outfit, Fair Point began their premiership quest on a high note with a lone goal victory over Seven United in their Zonal Play-Off match at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Striker Awal Ibrahim scored the only goal of the match in the eighth minute to put his side in pole position for the solitary slot allotted Zone Three.

The victory thus places Fair Point at the pinnacle of the four-club championships on three points, followed by Zaytuna and Hotspurs who have a point each with Seven United perched at the bottom with no point. Fair Point started the match on a bright note and deservedly grabbed the lead through Ibrahim who latched onto a loose ball from a colleague.

Cheered on by their loyal fans, the Kpone-based team nearly increased the tally ten minutes later but captain Stephen Tetteh failed to convert from the spot.

Tetteh's penalty kick was parried to safety by Seven United's goalie Thomas Toblu who was well-positioned to avert any disaster in his goal area.

Seven United however dominated the second half but failed to pull even to be the vanquished side.
