Faisal 1 Dwarfs 0

Kumasi King Faisal today struggled to collect the maximum three points at the expense of Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs at their new adopted home grounds at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports stadium. A classic goal scored by Edmond Owusu Peprah in the 71st minute separated the two teams at the end of regulation time. Faisal had to fight from behind after conceding a 30th minute goal scored by Emmanuel Ackaifi to clinch the victory.

It was the Faisal lads who showed confidence and tactical supremacy in the first half but they failed to snatch the opener until Kwabena Opoku levelled up the scores in the 38th minute after connection home Habib Mohammed's corner kick with a header.

Earlier in the 32nd minute, Faisal's Prince Antwi wasted a spot kick after Richard Adjei was fouled in the penalty box. King Faisal who had not been enjoying massive support at their Kumasi home base were again welcomed to their new Len Clay stadium with a low turn out of supporters.

They wasted seven corner kicks in the first half and to make amends the coach had to bring on Kwame Acheampong for Prince Antwi and Eric Adu Poku for Emmanuel Nkrumah by the 67th minute before scoring the winning goal in the 71st minute.

Owusu Peprah delivered a non- drop volley that beat goalkeeper Joseph Addo in goal for Dwarfs to make victory certain for Faisal. The visitors also substituted Ackaifi Emmanuel, Aryeetey Samuel and Ato Quansah with Kobina De-heer, Kwame Acheampong and Atiah Sumaila respectively but this did not greatly change their pattern of play.

In the dying minutes of the game, Dwarfs redoubled their efforts in search of the equalizer but their attackers on several occasions fumbled in front of goal and missed scoring chances of drawing level until the final whistel.
