Kumasi, May 21, GNA - Kumasi-based King Faisal spanked visiting Tema Real Sportive 3-1 in their midweek 20th Week Onetouch Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Faisal took the lead in the 11th minute through Eric Kwaku Poku whose right footer hit the posts and deflected into the net. A shot from Abdul Samed hit the cross bar and Ben Wilson who was lurking around pounced on it in the vital area passed it to Poku to score the opening goal. The visitors accepted the challenge and worked their way through the defence and had a corner in the 14th minute which Isaac Boakye scored from the resultant kick taken by Kamil Yunus for the equalizer. Sportive came under severe pressure but in the 32nd minute, an opportunity was wasted by Thomas Avorgbedor whose shot sailed over the bar.
Faisal, however, managed to increase the tally in the 35th minute through Abraham Basit with a powerful header from a corner kick taken by Abdul Samed Oppong. Sportive made two quick substitutions after the recess and this nearly paid off for them but a chance that came their way in the 49th minute was wasted by Mohammed Yakubu whose feeble shot missed the posts narrowly. The visitors continued to probe for the equalizer but unfortunately for them, Faisal took over in a counter attack with substitute Enock Ebo Ando making it 3-1 for Faisal in the 71st minute when he connected home a pass from Eric Agyeman. Sportive came into the picture in the latter parts of the game and mounted series of forays but the defence of Faisal stood tall as the repulsed all the moves to the end of proceedings.
