The wait for the new Ghana Premier League season is over and fans witnessed some cracking and beautiful football from all eight league match centres across the country.

As scheduled by the Ghana Football Association and the Premier League Board, the domestic top flight competition commenced on Saturday at the Sogakope Stadium when West African Football Academy hosted league favorites Asante Kotoko.

The game was a joy to behold as WAFA taught Kotoko lessons of the turf. Gideon Waja, Martin Antwi, Samuel Tetteh and Charles Boateng made Kotoko second fiddle and won the game 2-0 courtesy of Charles Boateng and Samuel Tetteh.

The action continued Sunday across seven league centers, producing upsetting results, notably from Techiman as Techiman City defeated Berekum Chelsea 1-0.

The top liner of the afternoon produced 3 goals. Last year trophy winners, AshGold (league) and Medeama SC (MTN FA Cup), with Nuhu brothers making history.

Bernard Ofori grabbed a consolation for the Mauve and Yellows, but AshGold revenged their painful Super Cup loss.

At the Tema sports stadium, Ropapa Mensah and Isaac Twum grabbed the headlines as Inter Allies whipped Aduana Stars 2-0.

Elsewhere in Wa, All Stars walloped Sekondi Hasaacas 3-0 at the Wa sports stadium. Maxwell Baako racked up 2 goals and Richard Arthur concluded the drubbing.

Bechem United pick pocketed Liberty Professionals Bechem Park and sent them with two oranges for snack. Yaw Annor and Francis Afriyie were the partners in crime.

Dreams FC dreamt and woke up to the reality and smiled all their way home. The only team to leave the ground of the opponent with all 3 points, thank to Johnson Owusu. Ck Akunnor’s boys piped J.E Sarpong at the Robert Mensah stadium to set the tone for their journey.

Another giant was dropped from above as debutant Techiman City pipped Berekum Chelsea 1-0 to pick their first three points of their Ghana Premier League campaign. Issaka Ibrahim scored the only goal of the game.

At the Accra sports stadium, Sushi philosophy was on display the Japanese contingent who trooped to the Accra sports stadium to throw their weight behind Kenichi Yatsuhashi and Hearts of Oak were not disappointed.

Samuel Yeboah sent the packed Accra Sports Stadium with late winner to end Hearts of Oak’s barren ran against New Edubiase.
