Hearts beaten, Kotoko draw

Liberty Professionals earned the bragging right in the Accra derby when they faced off with giants Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
The Scientific Soccer Lads spanked the Phobians 3-1 after an impressive mid-week action against Ashgold.
Hearts were hoping to intensify the chase against league leaders Asante Kotoko but that ambition suffered a jolt when Michael Appiah opened the scoring in the first half injury time. Liberty doubled their lead through Tuffour Frimpong after recess but Ashitey Ollenu pulled one back.
That remained Heart of Oak’s only goal with Anthony Asamoah sealing victory to leave the Phobians nine points behind the Porcupine Warriors who managed a draw against Berekum Chelsea.
The Blues went into the lead via Atakora Gyimah in the first half before Richard Mpong leveled to grab a point for the Kumasi-based giants who top the log with seven games left to end the season.
At the Baba Yara Stadium, King Faisal beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2-1. Samuel Moya bagged a double as Frederick Boateng got the consolation for the visitors.
AshantiGold overpowered Aduana Stars in a 2-0 win at Obuasi. Debutants Inter Allies shared the spoils with Bechem in a 1-1 draw game thanks to goals from Sadat Karim and Augustine Okrah respectively.
Mohammed Razir got the only goal of the game as Heart of Lions defeated New Edubiase 1-0.
