Abramkese (A/R), June 21, GNA - Visiting Obuasi Ashantigold on Sunday played a determined game to split the points with Kessben FC in their Week 24 Glo Premiership match at the Anane Boateng Stadium at Abrankese near Kumasi.
The beauty of the game was initially marred by torrential rains which made the pitch soggy and it made ball control difficult. Despite this, it was Ashgold who were more purposeful as they occasionally surged upfront and nearly shocked Kessben in the 40th minute but George Appiah's non-drop volley from a Nana Yaw cross was saved by goalie George Cudjoe.
In the second half, Kessben lifted up their game and came up with some near chances in the 50th, 62nd and 66th minutes but Owusu Peprah, Anim Lanquaye and Kwasi Adu missed the opportunities that came their way.
In the 76th minute, Lanquaye should have shot Kessben into the lead when he rose above the Ashgold defence to head home a Mark Adu Amofah cross but keeper Fatau Dauda was surprisingly around to dive to his elastic limit to save the situation for his side.
