Kotoko draws 1-1 with Liberty

Cape Coast, Jan. 14, GNA - Dansoman Liberty Professionals on Sunday played a highly spirited game to hold Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a one all drawn game in their Onetouch Premier League match at the Robert Mensah stadium in Cape Coast.

After a goalless first half, both sides resumed the second half with greater determination, but it was Liberty who soon had the upper hand as they stringed their passes together in the attack and scored the match opener in the 51sr minute through Midfielder Kofi Nti Boakye. Boakye after collecting a midfield pass raced pas the defencemen of Kotoko to put his side ahead.

Immediately after the goal, Kotoko brought on Nana Arhin Duah for Mark Adu Amofa to strengthen their attack and the changed seemed to come to their favour.

Kotoko from then on forced Liberty to play most parts of the game in their own half.

The 91Porcupine Warriors' kept the goal area of the visitors boiling and it came as no surprise when outside right Edmund Owusu-Ansah in a solo effort scored the much needed equalizer in the 85th minute to bring some relief to their vociferous supporters. Earlier before the kick off, a minutes silence was observed for the late Kwame Amoa Bosompem, Greater Accra representative of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Tema Real Sportive defeated Accra Great Olympics 1-0 in their GT Onetouch Premier League match played at the Tema Sports Stadium The match, witnessed by a sparse crowd, saw Olympics putting up sustained pressure on their opponents soon after kick off. Olympics nearly went ahead in the 15th minute but Tanko Mohammed who had a good chance to score, fumbled in front of goal.

Evans Aidoo of Sportive also messed up a golden chance in the 38th minute when with only goalkeeper Ibrahim Salifu to beat, he shot off target.

In the 53rd minute, Sportive's Frank Awuah's goal-bound shot was expertly cleared from the goal-line by Olympics Seth Konadu to bring a sigh of relief to Olympics team.

Sportive's substitute, Richard Afful, however, made victory certain for his side when he delivered a powerful shot in the86th minute that easily beat keeper Salifu for the only goal of the match. The best player award went to Nuhu Fuseini of Sportive.
