Kumasi, Oct 9, GNA - Kumasi Cornerstone Football Club beat Adansiman United 2-0 in their Division One League (DOL) Zone 2A encounter played at the Asem Park in Kumasi on Sunday. Skipper Adamu Musah converted a spot-kick to give Corners the lead in the 30th minute after Adansiman's Justice Dadzie deliberately handled the ball in the penalty box.
The goal demoralised the defence of Adansiman and went on to commit a string of blunders but the attackers of Corners revolving around Atto Aggrey, Seidu Abu and Prince Amponsah, failed to take advantage to score many goals as a result of their erratic shooting. On resumption of the second half, both sides played a robust game which nearly marred the beauty of the game and referee Kakraba Mensah had to show the yellow card to Basiru Mohammed and Tahiru Salifu of Cornerstone and Adansiman in the 48th and 55th minutes to bring sanity to the game.
Adansiman's first meaningful effort at goal fell to their striker Alhaji Zubeiru in the 63rd minute from a goalmouth melee but his powerful shot went off target.
The visitors were however to pay dearly for missing the opportunity to draw even as shortly after Corners danger-man Seidu intercepted a pass on a counter-attack and powered his way through the Adansiman defence before beating onrushing goalkeeper Frank Duku with a low grounder to give his side the second goal.
In another match played at the Prempeh College Park, Kessben FC drew 0-0 with Nordip FC.
