Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals on Wednesday recorded a hard won 3-2 victory over visiting Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs at the Ohene Djan Sports stadium in Accra on Wednesday to improve their standings on the GT Premier League.
The "Scientific Soccer Lord" have thus increased their total point build up to 25 points to occupy the fifth position on the table. Coming from a one-all draw encounter at the Cape Coast Siwdu Park last Sunday in the first round, Dwarfs had a better side of the first half as they created series of decent chances but were unable to convert them with Liberty also failing put their acts together. The first half thus ended on a barren note, but Liberty in the second half took advantage of a goal-mouth melee to open the scores in the 52nd minute through Kofi Nti-Boakye.
The visitors responded positively to the challenge and invaded the territory of Liberty only to find their strikers messing up the chances. Liberty's Skipper, Mustapha Essuman increased the tally for his side in the 62nd minute when he moved deep into the defense of Dwarfs and delivered a grounder to beat keeper Sam Quansah in post for Dwarfs. Dwarfs however did not give up the fight as they continued with their pressure on the homesters, and their effort paid off for them in the 69th minute when they were awarded a penalty by referee Alex Kotey for Sam Aryeetey to convert for his side.
With the tally reduced, the visitors pressed on for the equalizer but had their efforts thwarted when Michael Helegbe completed the winning trend with another grounder in a solo move initiated by midfielder Komla Amewu in the 77th minute.
Liberty hanged on to the lead until the 82nd minute when defender James Dissiramah directed Aryetey's shot into his own net to give Dwarfs their second goal of the day.
The goal was however not enough to pick them a point as Liberty guarded their lead jealously till the end of proceedings.
