At the Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman, Accra Hearts of Oak held Liberty Professionals to a goalless drawn game in their 17th Premier League match on Wednesday.
The game, which was pregnant with countless action from the city rivals, however failed to record the desired goals.
Both sides had a few chances with most of the action centered in the midfield.
Liberty started the game pretty well and in the 10th minute, Felix Baffoe was set clear from the middle but his close range shot missed the posts narrowly to set the Phobians free.
Hearts quickly reacted with a counter that found Eric Gawu in contention but the striker's shot flew over the bar leaving the scores unchanged.
The league leaders began to live dangerously as the strikers of Liberty bombarded their goal territory.
The invasion of the host nearly paid off when Kojo Asamoah sent a fierce shot but it deflected off the Hearts post to safety to end the first half.
The Hearts midfield built around Francis Bossman lacked the creativity to provide the desired ball supply to grab the goals as the Liberty lads managed to take control.
The attack of the Phobians began to click when Ablade Morgan come in for Alfred Nii Larbi with occasional outbreaks in the goal area of the home side.
Morgan who is Hearts highest scorer this season, managed to create a few panicky moments for the defence of the host but failed to cause any havoc.
Twice the player came close to scoring but his effort was not enough to change the score line till the final whistle. Liberty's Emmanuel Allen won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match to crown an exciting encounter.
