Lions could appoint Duncan as head coach

Ghanaian Premier League side Heart of Lions have reportedly approached David Duncan to test his interest in coaching the club amid claims they are to part ways with Yusif Abubakar, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The Kpando-based side are struggling to hold onto the trainer who guided them to second-place with reports suggesting he’s interested in a move to Hearts of Oak.

It is believed to be a matter of when, not if, Abubakar is replaced at the Kpando helm with suggestions Duncan is ready to join the side.

Duncan has been unemployed since he was sacked by Hearts and has been in the market looking for a new job.

Evn though officials are tight-lipped on the issue, GHANAsoccernet.com understands majority shareholder Randy Abbey is a key admirer of the tough-talking trainer and will quickly tie him down if he agrees to join the side.

Even though Abbey has been impressed with Yusif Abubakar’s work ethics, the coach’s supposed decision to cross-carpet to Accra is making things rather difficult.

Duncan has also been linked with a move to his former club Ashantigold while Kotoko could are believed to be monitoring the situation with the future of Mas-ud Dramani unknown.

Lions are looking for an experienced man to aid their campaign in next year’s CAF Champions League after placing second in the Ghanaian top-flight last season.
