Accra, July 5, GNA - Sporting Mirren's chances of surviving the Glo Premiership drew blank as they only managed a goalless drawn game with visiting Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra to drown them into relegation. Mirren needed a win to rekindle any chance of remaining in the Premiership but he hope was deflated by a resilient RTU side whose numerical disadvantage just after recess was never telling throughout the encounter.
RTU started well and managed to keep their hold for greater part of the first half but lacked the cutting edge to cause any havoc to the homers defence built around Gideon Baah who proved Mirren's best on the night.
In-between play, it was Mirren's Afranie Yeboah who should have taken the lead for his side, but he agonizingly missed from a close range.
RTU's Gabriel Boateng was to receive the marching off order just after the recess when he whacked down advancing George Ankomah while action was centered at the midfield where the battle for control grew with an understandable fierce.
Both teams fought for that break and an eventual goal but to no avail.
With the result, it will be a miracle if Mirren who now lie on 20 points can survive the Premiership with only three games to go with their closest "friends" on the relegation zone, Ashgold on 33 points.
