Okwawu beat Arsenals 2-1

Mpraeso, Nov. 16, GNA - Soccer Mountaineers Okwawu United defeated Berekum Arsenals 2-1 in their outstanding Kinarphama Premier League match played at the Mpraeso Brighton's Park.

The rematch became necessary when the match was rained off on November 2 at the same venue.

Okwawu dominated play when FIFA Referee Alex Quartey whistled for the commencement of the game and had the first goal in the 12th minute when Eric Mensah's beautiful header beat keeper Isaac Zoogah in post for Arsenals.

Okwawu should have increased the scores but their attackers wasted three scoring chances in the 30th, 32nd and 36 minutes when their shots at goal went off target.

In the 40th minute referee Quartey had to stop the game and ordered two Okwawu United officials out of the inner perimeter for insulting behaviour.

Okwawu continued their dominance when the second half resumed and wasted a free kick outside the penalty box in the 47th minute, when Mohammed Polo directed his shot straight at the opposing goalkeeper.

Arsenals sent in Osei Kofi for inside right Seth Antwi while Okwawu also replaced central defender Paul Amponsah with Stephen Opoku but the changes benefited Okwawu who put pressure on Arsenals but the defenders of Arsenals thwarted all their efforts at goal.

Arsenals managed to score a consolation goal in the 85th minute when Nii Nanka-Bruce received a pass around the centre circle and outwitted two

Okwawu defenders and shot past Okwawu's keeper Fatau Dauda.
