Kwabena Yaro's opportunistic 35 minute goal earned Power FC a lone goal victory over visiting Gamba All Blacks in their OneTouch Premier League encounter at the Ho Sports stadium on Sunday.
The goal came about through a loose ball in a goalmouth scramble, which saw Yaro who was just in position to tap in the vital touch into goal beyond the reach of All Black's goalie, Isaac Ackrong.
The Power lads entered the match with much determination to impress the sparse home crowd, who rooted for them amidst drumming and singing and shouts of exasperation anytime they squandered a chance at goal. The stadium was therefore set alive when the vital goal came.
The game from then became a ding-dong affair with both teams pressing for goals, with their forwards narrowly missing their targets. Power FC resumed the second half full of determination to improve their goal margin but found a similarly determined Gamba All Blacks coming close to canceling the lead in the 55th and 60th minutes but for excellent anticipation and agility of goal keeper Akrofie Joshua in goal for Power FC.
