Premier League goes on break again

Accra, Sept. 23, GNA - The on and off 2004 Premier League that is just back from three months hibernation is scheduled to go on another week-long break to gave way for an international assignment.

The break has become necessary in view of the continental assignments involving the country's two most glamorous clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Both Hearts and Kotoko are participating in the Confederations of African Football (CAF) organized Confederations Cup and are expected to be in action at the weekend.

The break, according to Mr Abrah-Appiah, Chairman of the Professional League Board (PLB) is in solidarity with the two clubs who would be playing against Sable de Batie of Cameroon and Petro Athletico of Angola respectively.

"We have decided to lend both Hearts and Kotoko our support and prayers in their quest to bring laurels to the nation" he told GNA Sports.

Kotoko are billed against Athletico of Angola at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Saturday whilst Hearts trek to Cameroon as guest of Batie on Sunday.

To make matters worse for the League and the local teams, another break looms as the senior national team, the Black Stars are scheduled to play their counterparts from DR Congo on Sunday, October 10 in a World Cup qualifier at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
