Kumasi, July 5, GNA - Kumasi King Faisal on Sunday coasted home to a 2-1 victory over visiting Kpando Heart of Lions in their Glo-Premier League encounter played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The victory was secured courtesy Abdul Samad Oppong whose 67th minute strike dented the hopes of the visitors who were anticipating a drawn game.
The match began with Faisal attacking in droves but they could not penetrate the water-tight defence of Lions centred around Emmanuel Ansong, Joseph Jackson and John Tuffour.
Just as the visitors were warming themselves into the game with some occasional counter-attacks, Faisal stunned them with a beautiful goal in the 38th minute via Prince Arko who surged up front to intercept a Micky Ofosu pass before delivering a carpet shot into the net. Lions responded swiftly after the goal and levelled up the scores four minutes later through a defensive blunder by goalkeeper Osei Boateng who mis-kicked the ball in the vital area to give Kofi Nti Boakye a gifted chance to slot in the equaliser.
Back in the second half, Faisal kept up the pressure on Lions and in the 67th minute, Enoch Andoh was brought down in the penalty box for Samad Oppong to convert for the match winner.
