Sekondi Hasaacas boosted their relegation survival campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aduana Stars at the Essipong Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Former Ghana U23 striker Bright Adjei cancelled out Ebo Duncan's opener for Hasaacas but Richmond Opoku won the game for the hosts.
Hasaacas were inspired to win by their own position on the league log. The Western Giants were into the game occupying 15th spot on the 16-club league table.
With coach Yussif Basigi under enormous pressure to rescue the sinking side, striking duo Eric Bekoe and Samuel Afful recovered from injury to earn selection.
Hasaacas grabbed the opener from an unlikely source as Ebo Duncan them into the lead.
Aduana coach Cioaba Aristica celebrated wildly when Bright Adjei pecked the scoring moments later.
But the fighting Hasmal soon restored the lead. A sweet combination play set up Richmond Opoku who powered home from inside the box.
The results has put Hasmal on 28 points and out of the relegation zone following the failure of Inter Allies and Bechem United.
